Scarlett Johansson marks directorial debut with 2025 film 'Eleanor the Great'

Scarlett Johansson recently made her debut as a director with film Eleanor the Great.

Her all-new drama film was premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it brought audiences to tears.

Even though after giving such an emotional debut as a filmmaker, the Lucy star still isn’t sure if she would want to continue it or would only work in front of the camera.

When asked if this first directorial project is going to be a start of a new career direction, Scarlett replied, "I don't know. I'm not sure. I guess we'll see.”

The 40-year-old explained that her intention is to work on projects she will go and see, whether they're like ‘Jurassic World or Eleanor the Great.

“The commerciality of things is also important to me, too. Would audiences want to see this, too? Is this generally interesting? Those are things I look for and focus on and care about. So, we’ll see, I guess”, Johanssan added.
