Deborra-Lee Furness is breaking her silence after finally filing for divorce from Hugh Jackman.
In a statement to the Daily Mail on May 27, the Australian actress addressed the pain of their 27-year marriage ending, referencing the emotional toll of “betrayal.”
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she said. Calling the split “a profound wound that cuts deep,” Furness added that her faith in a “higher power” helped her process it all.
Furness, 69, finally filed for divorce from Jackman, 56, in New York on May 23, per the Daily Mail.
An insider previously told the outlet that the exes “never had a prenup.” However, the Wolverine star has reportedly offered a “handsome spousal support payment.”
The pair, who married in 1996 and share two adopted children, announced their amicable separation in 2023.
But speculation of cheating began just months later as Jackman was seen holding hands with his Music Man costar Sutton Foster, who has since reportedly moved in with him.
While Furness didn’t name names, she said she’s come away with hard-earned insight: “That none of this is personal.”
“We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves… I remain grateful,” she concluded.
