Construction work on building component of newly planned Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Paediatrics Filter Clinic here at Dhoke Elahi Buksh near Committee Chowk in town has been completed and Benazir Bhutto Hospital is going to take over the building today (Wednesday).

The planned Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Paediatrics Filter Clinic that would most probably be operational within this month would work under the supervision of BBH administration.

The BBH will take over building of the filter clinic on Wednesday and hope that we would be able to inaugurate commissioning of the clinic in next two weeks, said Medical Superintendent at BBH Dr. Asif Qadir Mir while talking to ‘The News’ on Tuesday.

The filter clinic has been planned to accommodate patients in thickly populated areas surrounding Committee Chowk and to share burden of the allied hospitals in town that have already been bearing extraordinary burden of patients for years.

The filter clinic would provide only outpatient department (OPD) services to patients in gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics departments from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., said Dr. Mir while responding to a query.

He added the clinic would have facility of pathology department as well and a laboratory has already been designed at the newly constructed filter clinic. The patients visiting filter clinic would be provided services related to radiology department as an X-Ray machine is being installed at the filter clinic, he said.

He added that two consultant gynaecologists, two consultant obstetricians and two consultant paediatricians along with a total of nine male and female medical officers would be deputed at the filter clinic. One pathologist and a radiologist along with laboratory technicians would also be present at the filter clinic, he said.

To a query, Dr. Mir said a total of six charge nurses and two head nurses would be deputed at the filter clinic to cater to the needs of patients visiting the healthcare facility. The filter clinic would not provide indoor patients services instead patients in need of hospital admission would be referred to the BBH, he explained.

He said the BBH would appoint a deputy medical superintendent (DMS) at the filter clinic for supervising administrative affairs. Initially, the BBH is planning to make filter clinic capable of accommodating at least 300 patients daily and if needed, the capacity may be enhanced, said Dr. Mir while responding to a query.
