Parineeti Chopra, who took away the award for Style Icon of the Year for her dramatic physical transformation, brought her A-game in a canary yellow Monica Jaising column dress and so did Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a fairytale number by Georges Hobeika – the same designer who made an appearance on the local LSA red carpet on our very own Mahira Khan.
However, the resplendent floral gown wasn’t the only thing that put the spotlight on the Bachchan bahu. Apart from winning an award for Power-Packed Performance of the Year for her role in Jazbaa, the actress got the rumour mills rolling when she referred to veteran actress Rekha as ‘Maa’ with Amitabh Bachchan sitting front row.
Amongst other moments, Jetendra’s heavily botoxed face was the talk of the town and so was SRK and Kajol’s romantic performance for reasons better than the former. Ranveer Singh added flavour to the otherwise dull night with his shenanigans and Arjun Kapoor joined his cousin Sonam on stage for an impromptu dance performance. Salman Khan, who had everybody in fits of laughter with his one-liners, failed to win an award for Bajrangi Bhaijaan despite being a popular choice. However, the most interesting moment of the entire night was the emphasis on women recognition as both Meghna Gulzar for Talvar and Shonali Bose for Margarita With A Straw were honoured with the Filmmaker of the Year awards.
