Benedict Cumberbatch, one of the world’s leading movie stars, found global success after starring in the hit TV series Sherlock. All these years later, the actor is still amazed by his “Sherlock” fame.

Currently starring in The Hollow Crown (War of the Roses), an adaptation of Shakespeare’s works, this year will see Cumberbatch take on the mantle of a superhero in Marvel’s upcoming film, Doctor Strange.

“It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically,” Cumberbatch told EW. “I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”

In Doctor Strange, Cumberbatch who plays Stephen Strange has an enormous presence. “He’s physically a very strong presence in the world,” Cumberbatch said of Strange. “His hands are no longer capable of the fine skill needed for delicate surgery but physically he’s still strong. There’s a lot of running. There’s a lot of craziness: falling, flying, jumping, fighting, punching, getting punched. It’s really rough and tumble.”
