KARACHI: The 17th Inter School Scrabble Championship is all set to be played on here at a local hotel February 28.
“About 800 players are expected to participate from over 100 educational institutes,” announced the Tournament Director, Tariq Pervez at a press conference here on Wednesday.
Tariq Pervez informed that last year's championship was the largest tournament of any single sport in Pakistan's history with 764 players playing under one roof and hoped that this championship will keep its tradition of breaking all previous participation records.
For the first time shuttle buses will be arranged offering free pick & drop to the players from designated places to and from the venue.
This is an open tournament for students of all schools, colleges and universities. Players are divided into six age categories; the maximum age limit is 23. Trophies will be given to top three players in each category while certificates of participation will be given to all players.
Top 80 players from this championship will be picked for training and ten players from this group will be selected to represent Pakistan at the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) to be played in France in August.
Pakistan was the runner-up at the last WYSC and is a favorite to win this year.
Interested players can download the entry forms from www.pakistanscrabble.org or from any Bien Habille outlets.
