Rich tributes paid to Afzal Khan Lala

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a condolence reference paid glowing tributes to Awami National Party (ANP) leader Muhammad Afzal Khan and said the late political stalwart always stood against undemocratic and terrorist forces.
The condolence reference was arranged by the Vision Organisation at the Peshawar Press Club in the memory of Afzal Khan, affectionately known as Khan Lala, who passed away a few weeks ago. Senior ANP leader and Member National Assembly Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Member Provincial Assembly Syed Jaffar Shah and the late politician’s nephew Col (Retd) Abdul Ghaffar spoke on the occasion.
Afghan Ambassador Janan Musazai also attended the reference as the chief guest.Ghulam Bilour said fighting and opposing terrorism and dictatorship was the pivot of Khan Lala’s political philosophy. “He always advocated and preached peace and unity among Pakhtuns,” he added.
Syed Jaffar Shah said Afzal Khan Lala always strived for unity among Pakhtuns. He recognised no division among Pakhtuns on the geographical grounds, the MPA added.He said that Khan Lala believed more in the power of the pen than the gun to bring peace.He said references in memory of Khan Lala should be held at the width and breadth of the country so that the nation could be enlightened with his philosophy of peace.
