PESHAWAR: The Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Peshawar, observed its first founding anniversary.
A ceremony was held at the University of Peshawar in connection with the day. Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Rasul Jan was the chief guest on the occasion, said a press release.
National coordinator, Centre for Peace and Development Initiative Fayyaz Ahmad, director of the institute Jamil Ahmad, principal College of Home Economics Dr Kanez Fatima Haider and others spoke on the occasion.
Rasul Jan was of the opinion that Pakistan was a victim of violence, terrorism and external interventions by neighbours and international forces. He said rampant corruption in the society deprived masses of their basic rights.
He stressed the need for efforts for promotion of cooperation between the universities and development sector organisations and promotion of peace in the society.
