PESHAWAR: The Lady Health Workers (LHWs) on Tuesday set up a protest camp outside the Peshawar Press Club against the non-payment of salaries and arrears.
They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the provincial government, Health Department and favour of their demands.
Provincial president of the LHWs Ayesha Hassan, supervisor Noor Jehan and others sat in the camp.
The participants of the camp said that the government had withheld the salaries of the LHWs for the last three months and arrears for three long years.
They said the LHWs have been performing their professional duty despite unfavourable conditions but were being ignored. The protesters accused the provincial government of not honouring the pledge of announcing a service structure for the LHWs. They vowed to continue the protest.
