LAKKI MARWAT: Residents of Dallokhel and Abbakhel areas staged protest near Dallokhel Phatak (old railway crossing) on Bannu-Mianwali road against the prolonged outages.
Led by former nazim Jauhar Muhammad, Prof (r) Zarwali Khan and other elders, the villagers reached Phatak and staged sit-in on the road connecting Bannu with Mianwali district of Punjab.
They also blocked the road for traffic and raised slogans against the officials of Peshawar Electric Supply Company.Later, a heavy police contingent, headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rafiullah Khan, reached the spot and called the officials of the Pesco to hold meeting with the elders of the villages.
Jauhar said on the occasion that hours long power loadshedding had added to the miseries of locals. He said electricity suspension for 18 to 20 hour on a daily basis was intolerable as it had brought life to a standstill. He said students preparing for matriculation examination were the worst sufferers of the outages.
