Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has lodged a complaint with Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera against police officers of Saddar Circle, including superintendent of police (SP), for showing negligence in a child rape case, sources in the RPO's office said.
The top police officer recommended strict action against police officers who had failed in mitigating the plight of the victim family and the child who had fallen prey to barbarianism of three men, sources said.
According to sources, RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has written a letter to IGP Sukhera against SP Dr. Sardar Ghias Gull and DSP Sajid Gondal for showing negligence in the child sex abuse case and not visiting the crime scene. He mentioned in the letter that no police officer bothered to visit the crime scene or supervise investigation being launched by their subordinates. “The two police officers took the case very lightly and did not take necessary action. As a result, the victim family suffered a lot,” the RPO wrote in the letter.
Earlier, three men, identified as Abu Huraira, Ramzan and Adnan picked up a 13-year-old boy and took him to a house located in Dhoke Thatthial on Chakri Road falling the jurisdiction of Saddar Bairuni Police Station. They molested him sexually at gunpoint and took his pictures by their mobile phones to blackmail the child and his family. Police, on the complaint of the victim’s father, lodged a case but twisted facts in a bid to give advantage to the accused. Later, the accused were arrested.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident after it was reported in a newspaper and directed the RPO to personally visit the victim family. Following the directions of the CM, the RPO called on the victim family and assured them that the culprits would be brought to justice.
