BISP to help enrol out-of-school children

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Education Department and Benazir Income Support Programme have signed an `Implementation Agreement' to promote enrolment of out of school children in schools. The Implementation Agreement was signed between Director General BISP Rawalpindi Division, Mukhtar Paras Shah and EDO Education Department Rawalpindi, Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq.
The purpose of the Implementation Agreement (IA) was to forge a partnership between Divisional/Tehsil Offices of BISP and the School Education Department to jointly implement Waseela-e-Taleem - a Co-responsibility Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme - for the promotion of primary education of children of BISP beneficiaries in the Rawalpindi.
According to the arrangements, Education Department will facilitate admission of children of BISP's eligible families in government-managed primary schools and Improve supply capacity of the targeted schools in the concerned Tehsils of Rawalpindi Division.
Whereas BISP will be responsible for payment of Rs200 per child per month after confirmation of admission and attendance.
According to an estimate there are about 47000 beneficiaries of BISP in Rawalpindi who are parents of approximately 10,0000 children that need to be admitted and retained in schools.
