Efforts urged to achieve goals of creation of Pakistan

Pakistan will defeat India on all fronts and the Pakistani nation will stand with Army like 1965 War.
These views were expressed by participants of an event organised by Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs at Faisal Auditorium on Monday, according to a press release. Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Adviser to VC Ikram Ullah Khan, Air Vice Marshall (r) Anwar Mahmood Khan, Director Students Affairs Shahid Mahmood Gull, Deputy Director Zubair Akram, Israr Chishti, faculty members, employees and a large number of students from all the departments were present. In the ceremony, students presented national songs and debates in connection with Defence Day.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Taqi Zahid Butt said Ghazwa-e-Badar and 1965 War were fought to save Islam. He said the speech of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Defence Day represented the sentiments of the nation. Ikram Ullah Khan said the spirit of the nation on this year’s Defence Day was highly appreciable. They said Pakistanis must make efforts to achieve the goals of the creation of the country and the dreams of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam must come true. He said there were ideal civil-military relations to make operation Zarb-e-Azb a success. Air Marshal (r) Anwar Mahmood Khan said the emotions of Pakistani nation and the Army during 1965 War were unprecedented. He said the principals of unity, faith and discipline must be adopted for the development of the country. He said: “We destroyed 66 Indian warplanes while Pakistan faced the loss of only 16 warplanes”. Director Students Affairs Shahid Mahmood Gul said the purpose of organising the ceremony was to pay rich tributes to the martyrs of 1965 War.
Seminar: Punjab University will organise a seminar on “Lessons of 1965 War with Special Reference to Internal and External Challenges facing Pakistan” on Tuesday (today) at 11am at Al-Raazi Hall.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran will chair the seminar while former Speaker National Assembly Syed Fakhar Imam will be the chief guest. On this occasion, Senator SM Zafar, Air Marshall (r) Zafar A Ch, Admiral (r) Yastoor ul Haq Malik, former Punjab governors Khalid Maqbool and Shahid Hamid will be the guest of honours. Justice (r) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Lt-Gen (r) Humayun Bangash, Lt-Gen (r) Muhammad Naseer Akhtar, Lt-Gen (r) Farooq Ahmed Khan, GCU VC Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, renowned intellectual Amjad Islam Amjad, Air Vice Marshall (r) Amjad Hussain, Air Marshall (r) Anwar Mahmood and others will be the guest speakers in the event.
course: Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) and the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Monday signed an agreement to jointly offer short course in meat technology.
Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser and UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha signed the agreement according to which a three-month course in meat technology will at the main campus of the UVAS.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh addressing the participants said the joint venture would increase employment opportunities for passing out students with better wages through capacity building in multi-skills enabling them to compete at local and international level.
Prof Pasha said faculty for training of students would be provided by UVAS and labs of the university would be utilised for training while bull/sheep would also be arranged by UVAS.
The admission process would be conducted by Tevta District Manager, Lahore and middle pass individuals would be eligible to apply while Matric pass candidates would be given preference to get admission. Two groups of 30 trainees each would be arranged in morning and evening shifts. The existing curricula available at Tevta would be implemented in consultation with the UVAS while Trade Testing Board (TTB) would conduct the examination and would issue the certificate to all successful candidates.
