LAHORE: The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has postponed the strike call to September 4 after Finance Minister Ishaq Dar assured of resolving the issues by the end of August.
Earlier, Aptma has announced to observe a strike on August 7.
Addressing a press conference after emergent general meeting of Aptma, its Chairman S M Tanveer expressed the hope that the government would honour its promise.
“We do not want to confront the government that enjoys our full support,” he said, adding that this is the reason that unfair policies coming from it hurt the Aptma members. He said Aptma simply wants fair and transparent policy for exporting sectors in line with the policies globally in vogue. “We do not want to bear the inefficiencies of the power sector nor do we like to pay taxes on exports,” he said.
He hoped that the trade body would be allowed to concentrate on growing business instead of making it run from pillar to post to get justice.
