KARACHI: The issue of missing persons in Karachi is taking a serious turn, observed Shahzeb Khanzada in his analysis in the programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ on Thursday.
He mentioned that 41 FIRs regarding missing persons had been registered in different police stations in the past five days. Most of these FIRs were against the law-enforcing agency.
The Rangers, on the other hand, attributes registration of FIRs in different police stations, to a plot against Karachi operation and Rangers.
There were also advertisements in the newspapers a couple of days earlier, wherein there were the allegations that unknown Rangers’ personnel took away with them six persons – two of which were MQM activists.
Taking up the NA-122 by-election as another topic of his analysis, Shahzeb Khanzada mentioned the campaigning for the election in the constituency was at its peak. The PML-N and the PTI were engaged in leveling allegations and counter-allegations against each other. He observed that the major and traditional vote bank of the PML-N was community of businessmen but they were angry with their all time popular party for imposition of Withholding Tax. It was now to be seen to which side this community put its weight.
India is attacking Pakistan with a new policy, especially at a time when separatist tribesmen of Balochistan are willing to hold talks and India has come up with a plan to launch propaganda loaded with baseless allegations. In this connection an activist of banned BLA, Balaj Paroli emerged. In a ceremony held in New Dehli, he read out a message of prominent separatist leader Herbyar Marri. Balaj informed that Herbyar Marri would soon come to India.
In yet another attempt against Pakistan, the Indian channels started telecasting fake and concocted videos of Azad Kashmir, showing violations of human rights going on there. It is interesting that the footages shown by the Indian media clearly showed these were videos of Rangers’ operation in Karachi against criminals, which was carried out ten years earlier.
Shahzeb Khanzada also picked for his analysis the recent incident of the killing of a Muslim, Akhlaq Ahmad in India on a false blame that he had eaten beef. This incident was hitting the Modi government hard with severe criticism. A leader of the Indian Samaj Wadi Party, Azam Khan wrote to the United Nations against Akhlaq Ahmad’s murder. The celebrities of the Indian show biz had also vehemently criticised the murder incident. The Indian Premier, Narendra Modi, however, kept mum and did not even comment on the malicious incident.
Leader of the MQM, Wasim Akhtar, while speaking in the programme, said the member of Rabita Committee Kamal Malik was arrested from his house. He said masked Rangers personnel remained in Malik’s house for two hours. If the Rangers said it was not a matter of missing person, why they did not admit in the morning that they had arrested Kamal Malik. Wasim Akhtar said Malik had recently undergone lever transplant surgery. He said it was not known what the suspicions of Rangers were against Kamal Malik. It was due to his precarious health, Kamal Malik had not been asked what actually the matter was.
Former Sindh Governor Moeenuddin Haidar said it was possible to solve the issue of missing persons. He said the Rangers were not only agency picking up the people; the police and Counter Terrorism Department were also doing so.
Moeenuddin Haidar said both acts - the advertisements against Rangers and registration of FIRs for missing persons - were conspiracies against Rangers aimed stopping them from their functions. It was also a good suggestion to form a committee for investigating the matter of missing persons, he observed.
Moeenuddin Haidar said the MQM would be in a better position if it went to the assemblies and the Senate.
He, however, agreed that the situation would be better if it was told why and who picked up a person.
