PESHAWAR: The Lady Health Workers (LHWs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday staged protest against non-payment of salaries for the last three months. They staged rallies to press the government for acceptance of their demands.
CHARSADDA: The Lady Health Workers (LHWs) staged protest against non-payment of salaries for the last three months and announced to boycott their duties.
Led by the LHWs’ Association president Zartaj Begum and general secretary Saira Bibi, the protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanted slogans against the provincial government outside the press club building.
BANNU: The LHWs led by Rozeena Noreen and general secretary Fehmida Begum staged protest and blocked the road outside the Women and Children Hospital in Bannu.
They said that the provincial government had not paid them their salaries for the last three months.
TIMERGARA: Scores of LHWs staged protest against the provincial government for not paying their salaries and blocked the road for traffic for some time. The LHWS also staged protest and blocked the Lakki-Bannu road for all kinds of traffic for two hours in Lakki Marwat.
BATKHELA: The LHWs in Malakand Agency and Batkhela City also staged protest and asked the government to release their salaries. They were carrying banners and placards and blocked the main road for traffic. They said that the government had regularised them on the Supreme Court’s orders but they were not paid their arrears.
KARAK: The LHWs took to streets and set September 9 as deadline for the acceptance of their demands. Hundreds of health workers led by its district president and general secretary Kalsoom Sultana and Zakia Minhas and Aftab Bano gathered at the women and children hospital Karak and protested for their demands.
HARIPUR: The Lady Health Workers (LHWs) staged protest here on Friday against the non-regularisation of their services and non- payment of arrears. The women workers gathered outside the office of the tehsil nazim and chanted slogans against the provincial government.
Speaking on the occasion, Sobia Rani, president of the association, said the provincial government was still reluctant to implement the Supreme Court orders about regularisation of their services. She asked the authorities to regularise their services besides payment of all the arrears. They also threatened to boycott the upcoming anti-polio campaign, adding that province-wide protest campaign would be launched if their demands were not met.
