PAKPATTAN: Crops of growers were damaged when a 40 to 50 feet wide breach occurred in the bank of Sohag Canal near Chak 55/SP Chowk on Thursday.
The water flowing from the breach damaged cotton, rice, vegetable and other crops of growers of Chak 55/SP, Dhappi, Chak 26/SP, Chak/27 and other areas. The locals reportedly tried to contact irrigation department but they got no response. The affected growers appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister to compensate them for their losses.
ABNORMAL GIRL RAPED: A mentally challenged girl was raped on Thursday.
Manzoor Ahmad of Chak 65/D and his wife restricted their 18-year-old mentally retarded daughter with ropes at their home and went to Bonga Hayat locality. Their neighbour Asif Ali came and raped the girl. In another incident, a 10-year-old daughter of Muhammad Ahmad was alone at her home in Malki locality, when accused Zakar entered the house and tried to rape her. When she raised a hue and cry, the accused fled.
In the third incident, daughter of Peeran Ditta of Chak 14/KB was cutting grass in fields, when accused Sajjad came there and tried to rape her.
