PESHAWAR: Terming the slogans about repatriation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Khyber Agency a drama meant to fetch foreign aid, the IDPs warned on Saturday to stage sit-in outside the Governor’s House if their problems were not solved.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar Press Club, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fata leader Iqbal Afridi, Shahid Bangash, Dr Khalil and Sajjad Ahmed said that despite all announcements the government was not solving problems being faced by the displaced families.
The tribesmen said that non-governmental organisations and government entities were receiving millions in foreign aids in the name of DPs but their problems and hardships from Khyber Agency were constantly overlooked.
They said thousands of students had missed their examinations and hundreds of the businessmen of the agency had lost their businesses.
The tribal leaders claimed hundreds of houses were razed during the operation but no compensation was paid to the victims. They questioned how they could return to their areas where their homes had been flattened.
They warned to stage sit-in near the Governor’s House if the government did not take immediate measures to solve their problems.
