MIRANSHAH: The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, during his visit to the remote mountainous Shawal Valley in the North Waziristan Agency (NWA) on Thursday, said that they would expose all the faces involved in helping the terrorists at any stage or in any way.
“We will not allow anyone to kill our people and children. We will expose all faces who help the terrorists at any stage and in any way,” the COAS said while talking to the troops at advanced positions in the Shawal Valley near the Afghan border.
General Raheel Sharif spent the day with the troops engaged in a pitched battle against all the militant groups in one of the most difficult terrains of the militancy-torn tribal region.
Security forces after clearing major residential areas of the militants have now launched a ground offensive against them in the Shawal Valley, considered to be the last stronghold of the local and foreign militants.
The army chief praised the troops and commended them for their speedy gains and achievements in the fight against the militants.
He said he was happy to know that the troops’ morale was high.
During the briefing, local military officials informed General Raheel Sharif that most of the heights had been cleared.
The army chief directed clearing of the entire tribal region, including the Shawal Valley, of terrorist hideouts, cutting the terrorists to their size and severing their links with their abettors anywhere.
“With our accomplishments, the Pakistan Army has no parallel in the success rate in the war against terrorism,” Gen Raheel said while commending the extraordinary operational achievements of his force.
