ISLAMABAD: Two officials of a seven-member team of Scotland Yard reached Islamabad on Monday morning, following the schedule given by the Interior Ministry, to investigate the accused in the Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case, the Interior Ministry said.
The remaining five members will most likely join the team the next week, the FIAsources said adding that the advance party would probe three suspected murderers of Dr Imran Farooq.
The visiting Scotland Yard officials during their stay in Islamabad will also hold meetings with FIA officials engaged in the investigation of the case, the sources said and added that the team members would later meet Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan.
FIA officials probing Dr Imran Farooq case will also brief the Scotland Yard officials relating to status of investigations and key information extracted from the suspects.
It is worth mentioning here that British authorities had written a letter to Interior Ministry of Pakistan seeking legal guidance to probe the alleged killers of Dr Imran Farooq who were taken into custody in Karachi and Quetta. In response to the British authorities’ request, a joint investigative team had already been constituted comprising officials of Scotland Yard and FIA and visit of Scotland Yard officials is sequel of the understanding between Pakistan and British authorities so that Imran Farooq murder case might be taken to its logical end.
The Scotland team would investigate three suspects detained in Pakistan including Mohsin Syed, Khalid Saeed and Moazzam Ali. Sources disclosed that three suspected murderers of Dr Imran Farooq had also been transported to Islamabad from Quetta and Karachi for investigation.
