‘PTI striving to raise living standard of masses’
MULTAN: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Fakhar Imam on Sunday said that the government was striving hard to raise living standard of the masses.
While addressing a ceremony on the occasion of inauguration of a ladies park here, the minister said that the project would be completed at a cost of Rs 10 million in Kabirwala. Fakhar Imam remarked that the progress of journey under vibrant leadership of PM Imran Khan had begun. The government was paying immense focus on the uplift of district, he added.
He informed that Rs 3 billion were being spent in Tehsil Kabirwala. He stated that the masses would hear some more good news very soon. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahanian said that they would continue to serve local people in future also. Record development projects were given in district Khanewal, he noted. Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi and others officers were also present.
11 biological labs upgraded: The Agriculture Department has upgraded 11 biological laboratories to promote crops-friendly pests in order to enhance productivity productions across the province.
According to Agriculture Assistant Director Abdul Samad, biological control was defined broadly as the use of natural or modified organisms, genes products to reduce the effects of pests and disease and it was vital for enhanced production of crops. He said that the government had upgraded labs across the province now the farmers should follow the recommendations of the experts to abolish threat of harmful pest attacks. The pesticides spray should be done carefully after noticing the presence of pests reached to economic loss level, he added. He also proposed cultivation of such varieties having immense resistance against pink boll worm and some other pests.
He said that farmers should also use pheromone traps for the elimination of pests and added that cultural, mechanical, and biological control of pests was highly beneficial. However, in case of need, the farmers could apply chemical methods too, he concluded.
