Sahulat bazaars: Vegetable stalls yet to be set up

LAHORE:The government is not taking interest to check inflation. High prices of commodities are affecting consumers. The elected representatives have failed to settle the price fixation issue.

The government has yet to accept the demand for setting up vegetable counters at Sahulat bazaars. The staff deputed at Chungi Dogage Sahulat bazaars said they were repeatedly reporting to the Town Hall about unavailability of vegetable stalls in the bazaars but the district administration was giving no attention to their requests. They said fruit sellers were allotted stalls on "reference" and they were involved in overcharging but no action was taken against them. They refused to sell fruits on official rates. Similar situation was observed at Bhatta Chowk Sahulat bazaars.

This week the price of chicken, live bird, was gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs211 per kg, while it was sold at Rs220 to 240 per kg, and chicken, meat, was gained by Rs29 per kg, fixed at Rs306 per kg, and sold Rs320 to 340 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin new A-grade was further gained by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs57 to 60 per kg, sold at Rs80 per kg, B-Grade Rs51 to 54 per kg sold at Rs70 per kg, potato sugar free A-grade was fixed at Rs40 to 42 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 55 per kg, B-grade at Rs36 to 38 per kg, mixed sold at Rs40 to 45per kg, potato white fixed Rs27 to 29 per kg, sold at Rs40 to 50 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade was further increased by Re one per kg, fixed at Rs34 to 36 per kg, sold at Rs40 to 50 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs30 to 32 per kg, sold at Rs35 per kg, and C-grade at Rs26 to 28 per kg, sold at Rs30 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade was further increased by Rs12 per kg, fixed at Rs42 to 45 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs37 to 39 per kg, and C-grade at Rs33 to 35 per kg, B and C quality mixed sold at Rs40 to 50 per kg.

The price of garlic local was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs125 to 130 per kg, sold at Rs220 to 260 per kg, garlic Chinese price was not fixed sold at Rs200 to 240 per kg, Garlic Harnai was gained by Rs7 per kg, fixed at Rs152 to 157 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg.

Ginger Chinese was reduced by Rs35 per kg, fixed at Rs380 to 390 per kg, sold at Rs450 to 500 per kg.

Both Cucumber farm and local was fixed at Rs50 to 52 per kg, sold at Rs60 to 70 per kg.

Brinjal price was unchanged at Rs50 to 52 per kg, sold at Rs60 to 80 per kg.

Biter gourd was further increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs80 to 83 per kg, sold at Rs100 to 120 per kg.

Spinach was reduced by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs28 to 30 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 60 per kg.

Lady-finger was reduced by Rs23 per kg, fixed at Rs67 to 67 per kg, sold at Rs80 to 100 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples was fixed at Rs55 to 160 per kg, B-grade sold at Rs100 to 140 per kg, and A grade was sold at Rs250 to 300 per kg.

The price of Banana A-category was further reduced by Rs10 per dozen, fixed at Rs110 to 115 per dozen, sold at Rs180 to 200 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs65 to 68 per dozen, sold at Rs100 to 120 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs50 to 52 per dozen, sold at Rs80 to 100 per dozen.

Melon was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs48 to 50 per kg sold at Rs60 to 80 per kg, hybrid melon was fixed at Rs28 to 30 per kg, sold at Rs40 to 50 per kg.

Watermelon was fixed at Rs23 to 25 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 60 per kg.

Peach A-grade was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs150 to 155 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg, B-grade was fixed at Rs80 to 83 per kg, and it sold at Rs100 to 140 per kg.

Mangoes of different variety was fixed at Rs40 to 125 per kg, sold at Rs80 to 180 per kg.

Phalsa was fixed at Rs110 to 115 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg.

Plump A grade was reduced by Rs60 per kg, fixed at Rs195 to 200 per kg, sold at Rs250 to 300 per kg, B-grade was fixed at Rs115 to 120 per kg, sold at Rs180 to 200 per kg.

Grapes gola was reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs105 to 110 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg.

Litchi price was reduced by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs220 to 230 per kg and sold at Rs250 to 350 per kg.

Jambolan was fixed at Rs120 to 125 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg.
