Dropped catch cost us the game: Zadran

KARACHI: Karachi Kings top order Afghan batsman Najeebullah Zadran has said that a dropped chance broke their momentum in their match against Islamabad United which Kings lost by eight wickets in Abu Dhabi on Monday night.

“I think 190 was a good total but dropping a catch was the biggest mistake,” Zadran said while hinting at the dropped chance of Munro when Waqas missed a setter off Abbas Afridi when the New Zealander was on 34.

“If you drop such a good batsman then he makes it chaseable whatever the target may be,” Zadran said.

“The dew was there and the ball was getting wet but we dropped the catch and the momentum broke at that point,” he said.

Zadran, playing in the PSL for the first time, scored a superb 42-ball 71 not out and added 117 for the third wicket with Babar Azam, who scored a 54-ball 81 which enabled Kings to post 190-4.

“When I went out to the crease me and Babar had planned to take it at least to six overs and wait for the loose deliveries. When the partnership grew we decided to take ten to 12 runs in an over and so this way the stand built up,” Zadran said.

He hopes that they will qualify for the playoffs. “We have three matches left and if we win two of them we will qualify,” the Afghanistan white ball player said.

Kings made several lapses in the field against United in Monday’s game. Besides Munro’s dropped chance Iftikhar was also dropped by Imad wasim off his own bowling when he was on seven.
