Pete Davidson has been criticized for making a joke about Charlie Kirk
Pete Davidson's split from girlfriend Elsie Hewitt has coincided with the backlash he is receiving over a Charlie Kirk joke he recently made on Netflix's The Roast of Kevin Hart.
The former SNL comedian was condemned by conservative commentator Lilly Gaddis on Piers Morgan show for targeting Kirk who was killed in a shooting last year.
"I didn't think that joke about Charlie Kirk was funny. I think he could have taken that joke, use anyone else in a different scenario and, I think it would have been more funny."
When Morgan asked, "Did he cross a line for you," She said, "A line that's supposed to be crossed is comedy. Do I think it was inappropriate? Yeah. Do I think it was uncalled for? Yeah. Do I think he could have done a better job? I don't think he is funny and I don't think the joke was funny."
She said Charlie Kirk's assassination traumatized millions of people across the world.
Taking aim at MAGA comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, Pete Davidson had said he, “reminds me of Charlie Kirk in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat.”
According to PEOPLE, Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt have split but are still "working on things" together."
Quoting a source the outlet reported that “Pete and Elsie are working on things”. “They want one another to succeed and be happy.”
According to the insider, the couple's relationship has experienced ups and downs before. “There have been points where they've split and have gotten back together,” the source explains, adding that it's not clear if they will reunite again.
