Martin Short and Meryl Streep split after family tragedy
Meryl Streep 'devastated' as Martin Short pulls away after daughter's death
Martin Short and Meryl Streep have reportedly hit a difficult chapter in their rumoured romance.
According to Radar Online, the pair's relationship has been strained after Short's daughter, Katherine Short died by suicide earlier this year.
Insiders revealed that the loss left Short grieving and emotionally withdrawing from those around him.
The source said, "Martin adored Katherine, the sun rose and set with her, so naturally, he's devastated."
Adding, "Her death is just shocking."
Meryl Streep is said to be having "a hard time" getting through Martin Short with a source saying, "she's very concerned."
"She loves Martin unconditionally, and it's just devastating to see him so broken," they said. "They have never referred to each other as 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' per se, but they have been incredibly close."
The source notes, "The hope is that once things start to calm down, they can find a way to reconnect."
The two stars' friendship blossomed into romance over the past year following their collaboration on Only Murders in the Building. While they have described their relationship as "very good friends," reports indicate they have been inseparable.
