No COVID-19 death from twin cities, 81 new cases

Rawalpindi:No death due to coronavirus illness, COVID-19 has been reported in the last 24 hours from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district from where as many as 1,744 patients have already lost their lives due to the illness. Meanwhile, another 81 patients have been reported from the region in the last 24 hours taking tally to 106,225.

The number of patients being tested positive from both ICT and Rawalpindi district is on a decline but it is alarming that the positivity rate of COVID-19 has once again jumped to over three per cent in Rawalpindi in the last 24 hours.

According to In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid, a total of 20 patients have been tested positive in the district against 628 tests conducted in the last 24 hours taking the positivity rate at 3.18 per cent.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Monday has revealed that another 66 patients have been tested positive from ICT and 15 from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours. From Rawalpindi district, a total of 24,459 patients have so far been reported of which 979 have lost their lives while 23,131 have recovered from the illness. On Monday, there were a total of 349 active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi.

According to District Health Office Rawalpindi, only 33 patients belonging to the district were hospitalized in town while some 316 were in isolation at their homes on Monday. To date, a total of 81,766 patients have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 from ICT of which 78,040 have recovered while 765 have lost their lives. On Monday, the number of active cases from the federal capital got to 2,961.
