KARACHI: The editorial boards of Jang and The News have offered condolences to Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and other family members on the demise of Jang Group Publisher Mir Javed Rahman, remembering him as a dedicated member of the journalist community, who always upheld the highest ideals of his profession.
The editorial boards said the late publisher was a torchbearer for the freedom of expression. They eulogised Mir Javed Rahman for his immense services for the cause of press freedom in the country and the welfare of journalists.
The late Jang Group publisher had learnt courage, integrity and journalistic values from his father, the late Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman, and throughout his life, he exhibited those traits that were passed on to him by his great father, the editorial boards of Jang and The News said, adding that Mir Javed Rahman had started to play a major role in the affairs of the publications of Jang Group in the life of his father and he carried his father’s legacy after his death.
As the publisher, the editorial boards said, Mir Javed Rahman ensured that the Jang Group publications always adapted to the changing world and stood the test of time. In the times of censorship and other difficult moments, he always provided the leadership and boosted the morale of the editorial teams of Jang and The News.
