Celebrities advise fans to stay home
LAHORE:“Stay Home & Stay Safe” is the order of the day and the most effective way to combat the Corona pandemic with very restricted socialisation for the sake of nation.
This is the advice and appeal of the artistes and intellectuals to the general public. The renowned artist Jimmy Engineer, Arif Khan, Ghulam Mustafa, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Saleema Hashmi, Ali Zafar, Reema Khan, Nargis, Sajjad Tafoo, Usman Peerzada, Tasneem Peerzada, Bricks Foundation Chairperson Emma John, and many other personalities advised the general public to stay indoors and cooperate with the authorities for their own good.
In separate messages, Ali Zafar emphasised on the need of staying clean, washing hands with soap as much as possible during the day and a regular use of sanitizer. Ghulam Mustafa, Jimmy Engineer, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Usman Peerzada, Reema Khan, Nargis and Sajjad Tafoo stressed on keeping the social contact to a bare minimum to keep safer and healthier.
They were of the opinion that great nations stand together and united in the times of any crisis, adding, that Pakistanis have always displayed a great spirit of unity and oneness on numerous occasions, including the war of 1965, the 2005 earthquake and floods. They urged the people to cooperate with the authorities and pointed out that this was not a forced lockdown or a curfew but the most required step taken for the betterment of the whole nation. They maintained that it was the duty and the responsibility of every citizen to help the government in protecting their fellow citizens and family members.
In a message to the Lahorites, Bricks Foundation chairperson Emma John expressed the need to display the true spirit of this great nation which has been present at the time of the earthquake of 2005. She emphasised on the need to rise above all kinds of discriminations and socio-political divides and display spirit of brotherhood, sacrifice and unity to defeat the global menace of Covid-19.
She highly appreciated the statement of Mir Shakeel-ur-Rahman, Chief Editor of The Jang Group & Geo News, in which he has requested the journalists and the workers of the Jang Group to call off their protest demonstrations for their safety against Covid-19 and asked them to help their fellow Pakistanis in these most difficult times.
