Rawalpindi:Police have arrested 100 persons on violating orders for closure of shops and marriage halls in wake of pandemic coronavirus.
According to police spokesman, Ganjmandi, Rata Amral, Pirwadhi, Waris Khan, Bani, New Town and Sadiqabad police arrested 66 shopkeepers for opening shops while Westridge police, Naseerabad, Civil Line, Morgah and Saddar (Wah) Police arrested 23 shopkeepers on violating orders for closure of shops.
Similarly, Saddar Division, Saddar Barooni police, Mandra, Gujar Khan police arrested 11 shopkeepers for carrying business activities and on the violation of marriage hall.City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas said police would take action against the violators and advised the people to take preemptive measures to fight against coronovirus.
Meanwhile, In a major crackdown, against drug pushers, police foiled a smuggling bid and seized 500 liquor bottles and also arrested an inter district smuggler of liquor here on Sunday.During a crackdown, Naseerabad Police in heading of ASP Cantt held a inter district gang of liquor smugglers and seized 500 bottles of liquor from the custody of culprit Yasir Masih.
SP Potohar Syed Ali stated that interrogation with the detainee liquor smuggler are in process and on the information of the detainee culprit, network of liquor smugglers will also be busted.CPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younis lauded efforts of SP Potohar and his team for foiling the massive smuggling bid of liquor in the city.
