A joint survey by law enforcement agencies and officials of Nadra continues in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to collect data of people, sources relating to security department said.
The survey is being conducted door-to-door in Rawalpindi and Islamabad with coordination and assistance of local police station personnel, officials of law enforcement agencies and Nadra. The visiting teams of joint operation have been mandated to collect comprehensive data of people living in residential areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The visiting teams are also taking snaps of houses and taking detailed information about the people residing in the residential and commercial areas of the twin cities. The drive has been launched with the sole objective to keep check on suspects, criminals and Afghans living in the twin cities with forged documents and fake CNICs of Nadra.
Security sources have made it public scores of time that Afghan nationals with fake CNICs of Nadra are residing in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and in many other major cities of the country for many years. The ongoing drive and survey is part of Interior Ministry’s initiative to identify suspects and criminals, specifically Afghans living in urban and rural areas of the country with fake CNICs and registration documents.
It has also been learnt that with connivance of Nadra officials, hundreds of Afghan nationals have got CNICs. To filter all such fake CNIC-holders, the joint survey is being carried out by police station, officials of law enforcement agencies and Nadra.
The data of all citizens along with snaps of their particular residences is being made part of official record. The survey teams have been mandated to record all data of houses relating to the number of rooms and open and close spaces and details of individuals residing in the houses, particularly tenants.
Amidst threats of terrorism, law enforcement agencies have conveyed in the past to public to provide details of tenants residing in rented homes of the federal capital but it has been observed that people did not cooperate with local police stations in providing details of their tenants. Similarly, there are also reports that scores of allotees of government houses in the federal capital have made illegal construction in their allotted homes and rented the encroached rooms to people.
The drive is being conducted to keep check on illegal encroachments and on people residing in these illegal homes.
Nadrs sources revealed that the record of the Rawalpindi and Islamabad is being computerised.
