Death of ex-city councillor Zubaida Alvi condoled

A large number of residents, political leaders and social activists condoled the death of Zubaida Alvi, former city councillor and a known philanthropist, at her residence.

Alvi passed away in Karachi on Monday. Her funeral prayers were offered at the Jamia Masjid Khairul Bashar in the North Nazimabad neighbourhood on Tuesday and she buried at a local graveyard.

She was the founding member of the Tanzeem Falah Khwateen, a women welfare body, and widow of Pakistan Movement’s prominent figure the late Afif Hasan Alvi, a former federal minister and head of the anti-privatisation commission. She is survived by four daughters and one son. Her elder daughter is a known doctor and principal/founder of Alvi Homeopathic Hospital.
