Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be looking forward to a very normal Christmas this year.

After a year of family drama and public battles, the Prince and Princess of Wales just want "calm before the chaos" this Christmas.

Insiders told Closer Magazine that the annual royal Christmas at Sandringham will look different this year. The source said, "Sandringham will look different this year – the guest list is thinner than ever."

Adding, "The Yorks are not invited, Harry and Meghan remain firmly out of the picture, and William and Kate themselves will make only a brief appearance before slipping quietly away."

They went on to add about plans of William and Kate's family, "They’ll attend church with the family greet well-wishers, and then leave before dinner. No big royal lunch. No formal evening plans. They’ll head straight back to Anmer Hall to be with the Middletons."

"After the drama of the past 12 months – the tensions with Andrew, the continuing fallout with Harry, the public battles – they just want a Christmas that feels normal," the source said.

Adding, "It’s about regrouping, breathing again and putting their children at the centre of everything. They want calm before the chaos."

The simple Christmas plans for Prince William and Kate Middleton comes after a chaotic year, including the scrutiny surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Ex-Prince Andrew had his titles and honours removed amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein this year.

Moreover, the Prince and Princess of Wales remain estranged with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who moved to US after stepping down from their royal roles.
