MARDAN: The candidate of the three-party alliance, Himayatullah Mayar, has been elected as district nazim.
Election for the district nazim and naib nazim was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Mardan, where Deputy Commissioner Shahidullah Khan performed duty as presiding officer.
According to unofficial results, Himayatullah Mayar of the ANP-PPP-JUI-F alliance won the district nazim seat and PPP candidate Asad Ali was elected naib nazim.
The PTI and JI boycotted the district elections. The activists of PTI and JI staged protest rally outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House and blocked the road in protest for several hours. Clashes were also reported among workers of the PTI, JI and three-party alliance.
Similarly, PTI’s Mohammad Ayub Khan got 37 votes and elected tehsil nazim while JI’s Mushtaq Seemab got 38 votes and won the naib nazim seat.
In Takhtbhai tehsil, Mumtaz Mohmand of the three-party alliance received 15 votes and got elected nazim and PPP’s Javed Khan got naib nazim seat with 15 votes. In Katlang tehsil, Imdadullah of JUI-F’s forward bloc got 10 votes and elected tehsil nazim while JI candidate Abdul Jalil was elected naib nazim through 10 votes.
