Moot stresses youth’s role in promoting peace in society

GILGIT/RAWALPINDI: Speakers at a two-day training workshop here on Saturday underlined the positive role the youth can play in promoting inclusiveness in the society and building peace in the country.

The workshop titled ‘Advancing Inclusiveness among Youth through Training and Education’ was held at Karakoram International University, Gilgit Baltistan, jointly organised by Paigham-e-Pakistan Centre for Peace, Reconciliation and Reconstruction Studies, Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), and Karakoram International University, Gilgit Baltistan.

Prof Dr Ramzan, dean at Faculty of Social Sciences, KIU, Gilgit Baltistan, welcomed the guests and the participants. A total of eight sessions were held during the two-day training workshop in which a huge number of students and faculty members actively participated.

Islamic Research Institute Director General Prof Dr Zia ul Haq was the resource person of the workshop. He introduced the national narrative of Paigham-e-Pakistan to the participants. He said the easiest way for creating peace in the society is through training the youth for the propaganda war unleashed against the country. “Our youth is very much vibrant and there is no comparison of them in the whole world,” he said.Speaking on the occasion, Islamic Research Institute Deputy Director Rustam Khan maintained that social media is one of the important means to spread knowledge and information. “We should try to play our role in sharing such things on social media which leave a positive impact on the minds of the youth and help lead us towards success,” he added.

Separately, a one-day seminar titled ‘Role of Youth in Peace Building in Light of Paigham-e-Pakistan’ was held at the Karakoram International University, Gilgit Baltistan, jointly organised by Paigham-e-Pakistan Centre for Peace, Reconciliation and Reconstruction Studies, Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad, and Karakoram International University (KIU), Gilgit Baltistan.

Karakoram International University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Attaullah Shah presided over the seminar and welcomed the guests and the audience. Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman was the chief guest, while Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Jafarullah Khan was the guest of honour at the seminar. IRI DG Prof Dr Ziaul Haq and Deputy Director Rustam Khan were the keynote speakers. The speakers engaged the youth and sensitised them about the role they can play in peace building and overcoming the challenges faced by the country. Selected youth of the Karakoram International University demonstrated their love for the country and sang different national songs. On the occasion, the youth pledged to work hard for the bright future of Pakistan. Earlier, a one-day National Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan Conference was held at Bilquis Postgraduate College for Women, Rawalpindi.
