CAA to build safety walls around BB Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has signed a contract with the National Logistic Cell (NLC) for constructing safety walls to secure land around Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
After construction of the walls, the people living in adjacent localities would not be able to throw garbage in the airport jurisdiction, said a CAA spokesman.
In the absence of garbage, no birds, especially vultures, would fly over the airport and surrounding areas of BB Airport which otherwise could caused aircraft accidents, he added.
The spokesman said that garbage dumps in the localities around the airports attracted birds. Therefore, the people of areas such as Koral and Lohi Bher should not throw garbage particularly food left and dead animals in the open, he added.
He said bird strikes had caused fatal aircraft accidents worldwide. Such accidents could be averted if preventive steps like keeping the vicinity of airports garbage free were adopted, he stressed.
The spokesman urged the people living in the vicinity of airports as well as commercial establishments like marriage halls not to throw their leftover foods in the open garbage dumps.
