LAHORE
A 60-year-old man was killed when two groups opened firing on each other in Manga Mandi on Sunday, following an old property dispute.
He was identified as Mohammad Hussain of Manga Mandi. Police said two local groups of the area opened firing on each other over an old property dispute, as a result Mohammad Hussain received fatal wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Town police found a body of a 30-year-old man on Sunday. The victim, identified as Zubair, had sustained bullet wounds into the head. Police have shifted the body to morgue for
autopsy.
Protest: Family members and friends of a young teacher, who was shot dead in Badami Bagh a day back, gathered at Hajveri Shadi Hall Chowk on Sunday and chanted slogans against police for not arresting killers.
The protesters blocked traffic for hours. The situation caused a severe traffic jam in adjoining areas. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the accused. The victim, Haider Ali of Sattar Colony, Badami Bagh, was a teacher in a private academy near Lohaywali Pulli. He had forbidden accused Mudassar alias Chand from standing in front of the academy, to which he and his accomplices shot and wounded him and his friend Hafiz Kashif.
The accused Mudassar and his accomplices fled. The injured Haider and Kashif were rushed to a local hospital where Haider died. Kashif’s condition is also said to be precarious.
arrested: Punjab Highway Patrol arrested eleven accused and recovered 200 kg unhygienic meat. A PHP team apprehended Babar and Jameel of Khanewal and recovered 200kg unhygienic meat from their possession. Cops punished: Acting DIG Investigation Rana Ayaz Salim awarded punishment to six officers including two inspectors on charges of dereliction of duty, abuse of power and poor investigation. The punishment awarded by the acting DIG include demotion, forfeiture of service and suspension. They include SI Mohammad Asghar of investigation headquarter, SI Mohammad Shakoor of Old Anarkali investigation, in-charge investigation Lohari Gate inspector Mohammad Aslam and in-charge investigation Shahdara inspector Rehmat Ali, SI Mohammad Anayat of Shahdara investigation and SI Liaqat Ali of Nawab Town investigation police.
He also reinstated five officials from the rank of sub-inspector to constable.
Suicide: A married girl committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope in Ichhra on Sunday. She was identified as Parveen Bibi, wife of Zahoor. It was reported that Parveen, who had contracted love marriage with Zahoor a year back, locked herself up in a room and hanged herself to death over unknown issues.
Dies on road: A bike rider lost his life in a road accident in Islampura on Sunday. Police said that a 30-year-old man was riding a bike when his vehicle collided with a rickshaw, as a result he received serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy.
