Rawalpindi: Student Affairs Committee of the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organised an awareness lecture on ‘Disasters, their Management, Disaster Risk Reduction and Evacuation Plan’ here.
It was arranged in collaboration with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA). The lecture aimed at sensitising students and academia on disaster prevention and management to make them effective members of society.
Asrar Ayub, director linkages at the ERRA, gave inclusive presentation with practical demonstration in respect of disaster risk management. He spoke on various types of disasters and how we as a part of society can play our role in helping people. He emphasised on the need of disaster management in the current scenario of Pakistan. While talking about recent natural disaster of Peshawar which has brought destruction on large scale Mr. Ayub said that risk rate can be eliminated by proper management of any disaster beforehand.
