ISLAMABAD: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership has intensified efforts to settle the ongoing Middle East problem in a peaceful manner as the ambassadors of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Iran on Tuesday held separate meetings with Sirajul Haq.
KSA Ambassador Jasim Mohammad Khalid Al-Khalidi and Iranian envoy Alireza Haghighian met JI top leader separately at residence of JI naib amir Mian Muhammad Aslam to discuss situation in Middle East in the wake of conflict in Yemen.
JI secretary general Liaquat Baloch and head JI’s wing of foreign affairs Abdul Ghaffar Aziz were also present on the occasion.During meetings, all agreed that conflict in Middle East should be settled amicably and in a peaceful way. Later, talking to newsmen, JI amir Sirajul Haq said that during meetings, he requested the two envoys that the fire should be cooled down within Yemen through talks otherwise it will spread to other parts of Middle East.
He said that the Saudi ambassador agreed that war is not solution of the problem while the Iran’s top diplomat in Pakistan had also the same point of view.He said that he told the Iranian ambassador that instead of becoming part of conflict, it was important to handle the situation peacefully. “We felt that the war will create new market for sale of US weapons and it will bring nothing but disaster for economy of the region,” he said.
During meeting the Saudi ambassador, Sirajul Haq said that every citizen of Pakistan was ready to sacrifice life for the dignity of Harmain Sharifain. “I also stressed peaceful solution of the problem,” the JI leader said.
The leader told newsmen that if Pakistan becomes party in the issue then it would not be able to play role for mediation. He was of the view that given the opportunity by the government, top Ulema of the country could play an effective role in this matter.
