First royal family wedding of 2026 confirmed after Andrew's shocking scandal
King Charles and Prince William have been informed about the wedding as they reel from Andrew's crisis
In the wake of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's scandal over his links with the sex-convicted Jeffrey Epstein, the royal family was reportedly under much pressure.
Now, they are in for a key reprieve, as the King's nephew Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling's wedding date has been set.
The pair will tie the knot on June 6 of this year – without pomp and spectacle traditionally linked with the royal family – at All Saints Church.
This means no grand moment and no beeline of admirers at the wedding. Instead, close friends and family members will be invited.
Before the wedding announcement, King Charles and Prince William had already been informed and briefed on the couple's special day, according to Hello!.
These forthcoming celebrations are coming on the heels of the crisis the royal family is facing.
With several probes underway on him, a report in Hello! states it is unlikely he will attend the Phillips' and Sperling's big day.
In the meantime, the duo who began their dating low-key have now turned the attention of the world to their forthcoming wedding.
Separately, there are speculations about what dress Sperling would wear on her big day.
Some fashion enthusiasts speculate she will opt for a British designer and may also go for a rare Welsh gold ring - a royal wedding tradition.
