Now, what was depicted in the show had partly become a reality.

Early Monday, a tense crisis erupted at a North Carolina jail. It is when inmates took parts of the facility under control for hours while capturing two guards.

The daring attempt by the inmates began around 5 a.m. at the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail in Windsor.

A number of inmates overpowered on-duty staff and seized detention center sections.

The chaos prompted a quick response from law enforcement agencies.

According to multiple reports, at least 88 inmates held three guards hostage inside the jail.

One guard, however, was able to escape.

But for the rest of the guards release, tense negotiations took place, which resulted in 18 inmates and two hostages being released around 9:30 a.m.

Then, a large group of inmates was released shortly as enforcement agencies took back control of the facility.

Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin, in a statement, added, “Our top priority is the safety of our staff, inmates and the surrounding community.”

“We are coordinating closely with multiple law enforcement partners to resolve this situation safely and as quickly as possible.”

The investigation is ongoing to determine how inmates took control of a section of the facility.
