MMA vows to make country true Islamic welfare state

LAHORE: Leaders of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) have warned the nation that western culture was being imposed on the country in the garb of human rights and liberalism.

They pledged to liberate Pakistan from the control of world secular organisations and lobbies, and make the country an independent and welfare Islamic state in a real sense after coming to power.

Addressing a large gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan Sunday night, MMA President Maulana Fazlur Rehman said: “Time has come that the outside world has stopped choosing our rulers and ruling the system.

“They are letting the people make their decisions according to their values and vision of founding fathers Quaid-a-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who envisioned that Quran and Sunnah should be the law of the land,” he added. He said those ruling the country have always displayed slavish mentality for the West, whether they were from establishment, or from the industrialists or feudal sections. “As long as such rulers remain in power, the country could never be made independent in real sense.”

The joint communiqué, presented by MMA Secretary General Liaquat Baloch underlined the prime objectives of the newly revived alliance of five top Islamist parties representing all schools of thought in the country. These objectives are establishing new provinces in southern Punjab, Bahawalpur, Karachi and Hazara, merging Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), constructing non-controversial new dams, distributing national resources judiciously, ending interest-based economy, ridding the country of foreign debts, jump-starting economy by reviving agriculture and industrial sectors, realigning foreign policy on the pillars of independence and sovereignty, forging relations with the Muslim countries and reorganising relations with neighbouring countries on the basis of equality, forging friendship with China on the basis of honour and warmth, extending political and diplomatic support to Muslims in Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar, Syria against suppression they were facing, providing employment to people, ensuring rights to women and minorities, ending co-education and establishing separate universities and playgrounds for women.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Pakistan’s economy was enslaved by the IMF and the World Bank, while its politics and parliament had become slaves of the UN. He said IMF and WB made our economic policies and annual budgets which were only read out in the parliament. He said our defence and nuclear assets were restricted by global restrictions and UN checks. He lamented that our rulers blindly obey the UN and US dictates, allowing the global laws to override the laws of land without taking people into confidence.

He condemned the recent legislation allowing choice to change sex for people over 18 years, which was a violation of our laws and Islamic values. He said the law was forced by the UN and the rulers passed it hastily without taking the people into confidence and caring to complete the quorum in the House. He said rulers had enslaved the country before the UN and world bodies.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the historical Minar e Pakistan and minarets of Badshahi Masjid stood witness to another historic pledge, and it is to make the country a real Islamic welfare estate as envisioned by founding fathers. He said the foremost challenge before the MMA was to win 2018 elections and “we will achieve this goal.” He alleged that America and western countries who championed the human rights and freedoms, had been conspiring to make Muslim countries and people the fodder of their wars, killing millions of innocent Muslims mercilessly in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen and pitching Saudi Arabia and Iran against each other.

He alleged that Islamic symbols of beard and turban were maligned as symbols of terror on the behest of western policies. He said whatever peace restored by armed forces in their war against terrorism would never have achieved by army alone without the help of religious clergy and seminaries. He lamented that still seminaries and religious leaders were being targeted by agencies despite offering all the sacrifices. He lamented that thousands of young men were made missing inside their own country for the last 16 years and their parents died with unfulfilled dreams of having their children back with them again in this life. He said parliament was made to legislate for military courts, accusing the civil courts of lacking the courage to punish the terrorists. This move made the people lose confidence over civil judiciary.

MMA vice president and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq said the nation had not seen the Islamic system for a single day during the last seventy years despite that founding fathers had pledged before Allah at the same place to grant them an independent country for enforcing Islam. He said the MMA wanted to establish the Islamic system in the country.

“We will fight for the Islamic system till the last drop of blood in our body”, he said. He said revival of religious alliance had greatly upset the secular forces in the country.

He said, our war is not against any individual or family but it was against the poverty, slavery of the west, ignorance, corruption, price hike and nepotism, and plundering of national wealth, illiteracy and unemployment, tyranny and injustice. He said that more than one billion dollars owned by two families of the country was lying in Britain. He said these families had only been amassing wealth. On the other hand, he said, the army generals from Ayub Khan till Pervez Musharraf had been forming their own Muslim leagues to continue their own illegal rule.

He asked the people to end this tradition that voters curse the rulers for depriving the masses from basic needs but still voted for them. He demanded sharing profits of industries and crops among workers and peasants.
