KARACHI: The negotiations between Pakistan State Oil and the Oil Tanker Owners and Contractors’ Association have collapsed with the looming threat of fuel supply shortage.

While observing a countrywide strike, the Oil Tanker Owners and Contractors’ Association has suspended oil supply to Karachi and other major depots of country. The Pakistan State Oil sticks to its decision on letting the NLC continue with fuel supply with NLC instead of other oil tankers which is opposed by the different oil tankers associations.

The General Secretary, Oil Tanker Owners and Contractors’ Association, Babar Ismail has said that the petrol supply for PSO has been suspended and it will remain under suspension until the resolution of issues by the PSO. However, they will resume fuel supply to all other companies, Babar said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Oil tanker Owner Association Meer Mohammad Yousuf Shehwani has demanded to suspend fuel supply through NLC. He said supply fuel through NLC is illegal as the company does not have the required NoC, he said.

The PSO representative on the other hand has said that all the NLC tankers are fit according to the rules of OGRA and NHA. Besides, the NLC tankers have not been involved in any accident. He said that they would continue the safe supply of oil in the best interest of public.
