LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met PML-N president Nawaz Sharif and discussed matters related to the upcoming PAT protest, Balochistan situation, party matters, other political affairs and development projects in the country. Abbasi reached Lahore in a private jet to hold a meeting with Nawaz. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was present at the airport to give him a warm welcome. Later, Abbasi and Shahbaz arrived at the Jati Umra residence of the former prime minister.
Apart from the prime minister and the Sharif brothers, no one else was in attendance during the meeting. However, sources said, the meeting was later joined by Railways Minister Saad Rafique. The sources said strategy for the upcoming elections along with devising a plan for the party rallies to be held in the coming days was discussed in detail.
The meeting also discussed the recent political crisis in Balochistan, which saw the ruling party losing the slot of chief minister as well as the protest planned movement by PAT, starting from January 17 (Wednesday). The sources said it was decided that a rally would be held in Gujranwala and addressed by Shahbaz on January 19, followed by a gathering in Haripur the very next day where Nawaz is scheduled to speak to his supporters.
