This discussion gives an opening to a wider vision of fighting extremism-turned-terrorism. All educational institutions should include tolerance as a compulsory subject in their curricula to inculcate the spirit of moderation and love for humanity into the impressionable minds of our budding generations. The pulpit should also be encouraged to promote a universally tolerant image of Islam. An informed citizenry will dry up support for the merchants of death who are using religion to push their mysterious agenda at a formidable cost to our religion. Terrorism cannot be defeated merely by mourning and condemning terrorist carnages and outrages. The foremost challenge is to purge the whole society of all manifestations of intolerance and hatred. Can we revisit NAP if it is not too late already?
