Two foreign players enter Nemoz ATF U14 championship

KARACHI: Two international players have made entries to the second Nemoz Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) 14 & under super series tennis championship.

According to the acceptance list of the second leg of this super series, Kyrgyzstan’s Adelya Isabekova (ATF ranking 183) and Malaysia’s Dania Melati Fahrol Rodzi      have entered their names in the girls’ events.

But Asian number 33 Abhilasha Bista from Nepal and Malaysia’s Tng En Lydia Liong withdrew on the 20th of this month. The withdrawal deadline is July 4.

Other girls in the event are all Pakistani: Mehrma Makhdoom, Varisha Khan, Aamna Naeem, Maha Said, and Tehreem Yousuf.

The main draw size is 32 (six reserved for wildcards, eight reserved for qualification winners, two special exempt).

It is to be noted that Nemoz & Nameer Shamsi Tennis Academy announced two back-to-back ATF’s 14 & Under Super Series tennis championships from July 9-21 in collaboration with Sindh Tennis Association. 

Meanwhile, no international players entered the event in the boys’ category. Adil Khan is top seed with ATF ranking of 104, Ibrahim Khan is second seed with ATF ranking of 227, and Abdullah Khan is third seed with ATF ranking of 348.

The other players in the main draw are Erhan Asad Javed, Ammaar Ismail Mapara, Asim Gul, Mahatir Khan, Muhammad Ali Khattak, Huzaifa Khan, Hasheesh Kumar, Rayan Jawad, Ehtisham Yahya, Farooq Atiq Ali, Talha Khan, Umer Masood Abbasi, and Saim Danish Chaudhry.

Hamid Israr Gul is the only player in the qualifying round. The organisers claimed that this was the first time ever in Karachi’s tennis history that two such ATF events were being held.

The second event is to be held from July 17-21 here at D A Creek Club. The entry deadline was June 20.
