Children play vital role in nation building: NCSW

Islamabad: National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW) Chairman Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik has said that children play a vital role in the building of nation and developing human resources, says a press release.

“The present government is fulfilling the needs of children and also making efforts to make them useful citizens of the country,” he stated this while addressing organised  second roundtable for consultation on Challenges faced  by street children in Islamabad Capital Territory. NCSW in collaboration with UGood Pakistan organised the conference on the special directives of Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD).

Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman, NCSW, chaired the conference. Representatives of NGOs, civil society, child rights activists and officials of CAAD attended teh seminar.

In his presidential address, DR Malik said that on the poverty parents are sometimes forced to send their children to labour work instead of educating them. “As you know, children play a vital role in building of nation and developing human resources. We should discourage child labour working in automobile workshops, restaurants and in factories who are exploited by paying major wages. It is our collective responsibility to protect child rights and strictly ensure their enrolment in schools so that they may effective role for the progress and prosperity of the country,” he added.
