ABBOTTABAD: A couple alleged on Monday that they were put behind bars for a week due to a fake case registered against them by the police as punishment for lodging a complaint against the cops.Sardar Muhammad Shabbir and his wife Jamshed Bibi demanded probe into the issue while addressing a press conference at their residence.

The couple alleged the local police, especially Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Galliyat, Jamilur Rehman, punished their family by registering a fake first information report under section 436, 439, 427/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against them.

They said they were accused of torching a cattle-shed and killing a dog. They said it was done for the reason that they had lodged a complaint against the DSP with the police and the provincial ombudsman.

Muhammad Shabbir accused DSP Jamilur Rehman of backing his rivals who, he alleged, have been trying to involve him in litigation to stop him from claiming his legitimate share in property in his native village, Nagri Bala. He said his entire family lived abroad for a long time as they wanted to educate their daughters.

Sardar Shabbir alleged that his uncle Muhammad Zaman and his brother-in-law Mumtaz Ahmed had turned against him and were trying to grab a share in his property and were pressuring his family through the local police, including in-charge Bara Gali Police Checkpost Sultan and Constable Dil Nawaz.Jamshed Bibi, who is a former woman councillor, said they had brought the case into the notice of all the relevant quarters, including Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, DIG Police Hazara Range, and DPO Abbottabad.

She said they were also contacting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to get justice.
