Glowing tribute paid to APS victims
Functions held in KP, Fata to mark tragedy
PESHAWAR: Different organisations arranged functions and rallies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to mark the second anniversary of the Army Public School (APS) attack and pay homage to the students who were massacred by the militants affiliated with the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The civil society organisations staged a sit-in outside the Peshawar Press Club. The participants of the sit-in expressed dissatisfaction over National Action Plan that was announced after the APS attack. They said that two years had passed, but the concerned institutions had failed to submit their reports.
They urged the government to constitute a judicial inquiry into the attacks the Army Public School, Bacha Khan University, Charsadda and the genocide of Pakhtuns.
Pakistan People’s Party arranged a Khatumul Quran at the hujra of Sartaj Khan in Duranpur near the provincial capital. PPP provincial president Humayun Khan and others party leaders participated the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Humayun Khan said that PPP also suffered due to terrorism. He said his party shared the grief of the bereaved families.
The international Khatm-e-Nubowwat and Pakistan Rah-e-Haq party arranged separate functions to mark the day. Quran Khwani was held at the headquarters of Rescue-1122 for the victims of the APS attack.
Rescue 1122 Director General Asad Ali Khan and other officials attended the function. They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
TIMERGARA: Functions were held in all seven tehsils of Lower Dir to pay homage to the martyrs of APS attack. The Naway Kul Organisation lit candles to commemorate the sacrifices of the APS martyrs. Its members prayed to Allah to give courage to the parents of the slain students.
BATKHELA: The students of various schools and colleges took out a rally to mark the second anniversary of the APS attack and express solidarity with the bereaved families.They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning the attack.
PARACHINAR: A function was held in Kurram Agency to mark the second anniversary of the attack on the APS.The Tehreek-e-Hussainia organised the event to pay tribute to the martyrs of the attack.The speakers vowed to render any sacrifice to defend the motherland.
BATTAGRAM: The Child Protection Unit Battagram chapter on Friday organised a walk to pay tributes to the martyrs of the APS attack. Activists of the civil society, welfare organisations, officials of the Education Department and students of the government and private schools participated in the walk.
