Two killed while catching kites in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Two boys were killed while catching kites in separate incidents here on Saturday.In the first incident, 12-year-old Adeel Ahmad was electrocuted while attempting to catch a kite hanging on main electricity lines. In another incident, 13-year-old Habib of Amin Town was trying to catch a kite on the rooftop of his house when suddenly he fell down in the courtyard of his house and died on the spot. Meanwhile, Samanabad police conducted a crackdown on the kite flyers in its jurisdiction and arrested 15 kite-flyers from the roofs of their houses. They included Azeem, Kashif, Khalil, Adeel, Fahad, Danish, Faizan and Shahbaz Ahmad.

 

Independence Day observed in Nasirabad

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Political and religious parties and social bodies took out rallies to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day in Nasirabad town on Sunday. The rallies were taken out in different areas of the Nasirabad town and marched on different roads of the areas and culminated at Press Club. The participants also chanted slogans Pakistan Zindabad.. On the occasion leaders of the political parties said it was the responsibility of the masses and the government to work for the country because freedom is a great blessing. They said : “Our forefathers had sacrificed their lives for freedom of the state.” They also urged the nation to unite against terrorists and foil their nefarious designs.

 

Explosives seized in Swat

MINGORA: Security forces on Saturday foiled a terror bid by recovering 10 kilograms of explosives from a roadside in Mankial area of Bahrain in Swat, official sources said.They said that unidentified miscreants had hidden the explosives at the roadside in a sack.A few days back, suspected militants had also targetted a police van with a remote controlled explosive device at the same place.

 

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani has dismissed the deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Rural, Bannu. A statement stated that on public complaints against the DSP Saeed Khan Bangash, the IGP constituted an inquiry committee.

 

Two held for murder

LAHORE: Shalimar police arrested a woman and her son-in-law on charges of killing a man.The victim, Afzal, was found hanged from the ceiling of a house he had rented from Razia Bibi. The circumstantial evidences and postmortem report suggested that the victim had been hanged after being murdered. Police arrested Razia Bibi and her son-in-law Ghulam Raza on the complaint of the victim’s brother Shahzad.

 

Aleem Khan greets party leaders

LAHORE: PTI Abdul Aleem Khan has congratulated the party leaders for successful rally against the corrupt rulers. In a statement issued on Sunday, Aleem Khan said Insaf Tigers deserved tremendous praise for combating ‘Gullu Butts’ patronised allegedly by the PML-N government. He stated that the successful rally of PTI indicated that PML-N’s rule was coming to an end now and its frustration was further obvious from the statement of the interior minister after the PPP had announced support for the PTI campaign.

 

Schools across Punjab reopen today

LAHORE: The education institutions across Punjab will reopen after annual summer vacation on Monday (today). The annual summer break is usually observed in schools from June 1 to August 14 each year. However, this time because of harsh weather conditions the Punjab government had announced early summer vacation starting from May 24. The private sector education institutions normally don’t follow the government’s schedule so some private schools will be reopening in the last week of August.  This year rumours said because of the security situation the reopening of schools might be delayed. However, officials confirmed that there was no such plan and schools would be reopening as per schedule already announced. Though the educational institutions reopening after the summer break on Monday (today) the weather conditions are not comfortable.
