A head constable stationed at the Airport police station was suspended after a video clip showing him allegedly accepting money from a person went viral on social media.
The District Malir police spokesperson said the video shows Head Constable Maqbool Ahmed receiving money while on duty at a checkpoint under the jurisdiction of the Airport police station.
Upon viewing the footage, District Malir police chief SSP Kashif Aftab Abbasi ordered the suspension of the policeman. Station incharge Sub-Inspector Ali Nawaz was also suspended. SSP Abbasi ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter, assigning the investigation to the Gadap SP. A statement quoted Abbasi as saying that strict action would be taken against corruption, negligence and unprofessional conduct. He reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against unethical behaviour by police officials.
